University of Kansas School of Nursing faculty and staff look forward to celebrating students' academic achievements at the upcoming graduation events. There are two primary graduation events for undergraduate and graduate students and another specific to doctoral students. Information and related website links are provided here.
The 2016 University of Kansas School of Nursing Recognition Ceremony will be held Saturday, May 14, 11:30 a.m. at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall, 600 N. 7th Street, Kansas City, Kan. 66101. Family and friends will share in recognizing individual student achievements as each nursing graduate walks across the stage. There is no limit to the number of guests, and tickets are not required.
Undergraduate and graduate students who graduated in August or December 2015 and those scheduled for May or August 2016 graduation are invited to participate in the Recognition Ceremony.
Registration Names of students registered by April 8 will be confirmed and included in the printed School of Nursing Recognition Ceremony program and the University of Kansas Commencement program. Although we will continue to accept registrations through May 11, we will be unable to print your name in the program if your registration is received after April 8. Register here.

Regalia Regalia are worn at all three School of Nursing ceremonies and events (Recognition Ceremony, Hooding Ceremony and University Commencement). School of Nursing regalia are available at the KU Medical Center Bookstore by calling 913-588-2548. To guarantee availability and timely delivery, please contact the bookstore no later than April 15.

Note: Low or no-heel shoes are recommended for these events. Long walks, steep ramps and many steps are a part of these ceremonies!
Ceremony Instructions There is no dress rehearsal for the ceremony, so these instructions serve as your directions and contain details you may wish to share with family and friends.
Directions, Parking, and Accommodations
From the KU Medical Center area OR from I-35 Take the 7th Street exit and go north. Rainbow Blvd. becomes 7th Street at the corner of 7th Street & Southwest Blvd. Continue to proceed north on 7th Street to downtown Kansas City, Kan. You will go through an intersection at 7th and Central Avenue with a stop light. Drive about 1/2 mile past Central. Memorial Hall is on the left, facing 7th Street between Tauromee and Barnett streets. Map.
From I-70 If you are traveling east or west on I-70, take the 7th Street (North) exit from I-70. (7th Street South will take you away from Memorial Hall and you will be headed back to the KU Medical Center campus, so please only turn north). Map.

Handicapped parking is not available at this venue. A drop-off point and handicap-accessible entrance are available in the driveway just south of Memorial Hall. The hall is wheelchair accessible, but wheelchairs are not provided.

Photography GradImages is the official Recognition Ceremony photographer. Registering with GradImages provides the information needed to deliver proofs to your email in a timely manner. You may also provide six additional email addresses if you would like family and friends to also receive the proofs. University of Kansas Doctoral Hooding in Lawrence - Saturday, May 14, 7:30 - 9 p.m.
The 2016 University of Kansas Doctoral Hooding Ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Lied Center on the Lawrence campus, approximately 45 minutes west of KU Medical Center. Ph.D. and DNP students who graduated in August or December 2015 and those graduating in May or August 2016 are invited to participate. Registration is required.

The 144th Commencement of the University of Kansas procession begins at 10:30 a.m. Prior to "walking down the hill," students assemble with their School along Memorial Drive. You will find the School of Nursing toward the east side of Spencer Library. Our marshals (and our School of Nursing banner) will arrive early, so you should have no problem finding our group. Registration is not required. Friends and family do not need tickets.
The printed commencement program will include the names of August and December 2015 graduates and the names of May and August 2016 graduates who submitted an Application for Degree (AFD) in Enroll and Pay by the March 1 deadline or registered for the School of Nursing Recognition Ceremony by April 8.
