The following materials are required for application to the Doctor of Philosophy degree program. Prospective students can apply using the KU Medical Center Online Application.
After an initial review by the Admissions Committee, certain candidates will be selected to progress to the next stage of the application process. These candidates will be contacted by email and asked to respond in writing to a specific set of questions. A very short time frame will be allowed for the receipt of the responses. Candidates will also be interviewed by the PhD program faculty director and a research faculty member. The written responses and interview notes will be reviewed by the Committee and candidates will be informed of an admission decision as soon as possible.

Admission decisions for each semester are finalized approximately eight weeks after the application deadline. All applicants are notified of their admission status with mailed letters from the Associate Dean for Student Affairs.
To verify admission acceptance and secure enrollment, admitted graduate students must submit a $400 (non-refundable) enrollment deposit. This deposit is applied to the first semester's tuition and is not an additional fee.
NRSG 935 Professionalism and Scholarship Workshop: New PhD students are required to attend this one-credit hour course, which serves as an introduction to the KU PhD program and to doctoral study. The course meets on the KU Medical Center campus in Kansas City, June 4 through June 8, 2018.
