Jessica Everritt Gay, MSN, RNC-MNN, CNE is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center, joining the faculty in 2012. She teaches both clinical and classroom courses in the traditional BSN program. Professor Gay received her BSN from the University of Louisiana Monroe and her MSN in Education from the University of Texas. Her research interests include conceptual learning and mental wellness in nursing undergraduates. Gay's prior work includes 20 years as a staff nurse in Labor & Delivery, Newborn Nursery, Mother Baby, and Medical-Surgical units at hospitals in Louisiana, Arizona, Texas, and Kansas. In 2006, Gay and a colleague initiated a Perinatal Bereavement program and nurse training course at St. David's North Austin Medical Center. The program now serves more than 120 bereaved families each year, trains over 80 nurses per year, and works in partnership with six other Perinatal Bereavement programs across the Austin area. Currently, Professor Gay serves as faculty advisor for the KU chapter of NSNA (The National Student Nurses Association), also known as KUSNA. She also serves as School of Nursing faculty Treasurer and Undergraduate Council Chair-elect.
