Lisa Culliton, RN, MSN, APRN, CPNP, has a combined 20 years of nursing experience in a variety of settings including practice, education, administration, and operations. Culliton received her Associates in Arts with an emphasis in psychology from Rose State College in Oklahoma and continued on to receive her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Oklahoma. She spent six years practicing as a registered nurse in pediatric ICUs at several renowned children's hospitals including Oklahoma Children's Hospital, Dallas Children's Hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis. Culliton then spent 11 years in administration as the Director of Operations for a national call center in a Fortune 500 specialty pharmaceutical company. She completed her dual track in education and advanced nursing practice and received her Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of Missouri- Kansas City in 1999. She is board-certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Culliton is currently an Associate Clinical Instructor at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. She also serves as the Associate Director of Clinical Practice for the School's nursing corporation, KU HealthPartners, Inc. In her dual roles as faculty and consultant, she practices as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for KU HealthPartners' nurse-managed primary care safety net clinic, Silver City Health Center. She is also contracted outside the School of Nursing in a project management role to regional health care centers. Her diversified experience includes operational management in hospitals, home infusion companies and nursing call centers; quality improvement and process engineering for telehealth operations, health care companies and hospitals; regional project management consulting; and expertise in pediatric primary care in a faculty practice safety net clinic.
Areas of management and consulting expertise include health care operations, project management, work process analysis and redesign, quality improvement and outcomes measurement, disease specific accreditations for Joint Commission and Cycle II & III Chest Pain Accreditations for hospitals. Her special clinical interest includes health literacy, pediatric obesity and pediatric mental health.
Culliton has contributed to several chapters for nursing fundamental books as well as poster board presentations, guest lectures and has served in the primary investigator role in a clinical practice research project for health literacy. She holds memberships in the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, National League of Nursing, and Sigma Theta Tau. She is an elected member of the Board of Directors for KU HealthPartners, Inc.
