Dr. Lynne Connelly recently joined the faculty at the KU School of Nursing. Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Connelly was the Interim Associate Dean for Information Technology and Curriculum Resources at the School of Nursing, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Prior to that position, she was the Director of the School's Clinical Skills Lab. She has taught Theory, Research, Leadership, and Scholarly Writing courses.

Dr. Connelly retired from the Army in 2001 with over 22 years of service with her last position in the Army being the Chief, Department of Nursing Science, Army Medical Department Center & School. In that position, she had overall responsibility for the Army's nurse anesthesia graduate program, the Army Nurse Corps' Leadership Development Programs, the Army's Licensed Practical Nurse and Surgical Technician Programs, and the Army Nurse Corps' specialty courses. In the Army, she served in various clinical, educational, and administrative positions.

Dr. Connelly's research while in the Army was focused on leadership competencies, in particular for the charge nurse and Chief Nurse Executive roles. After retirement from the Army, she worked in the Army's Medical Command Patient Safety Program where she developed and tested an on-line patient safety climate survey. This survey was administered to all Army Medical Department personnel. She has been a principal investigator on two federally-funded research projects and several locally funded grants, co-investigator on three federally-funded and one locally funded project. Dr. Connelly is currently on the editorial board for Nursing Research. She is presently conducting a funded study of patient's concerns about healthcare safety.
