University of Kansas School of Nursing faculty and staff look forward to celebrating students' academic achievements at the upcoming graduation events. There are two primary graduation events for undergraduate and graduate students and another specific to doctoral students. Information and related website links are provided here.
The 2015 KU School of Nursing Recognition Ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall, 600 N. 7th Street, Kansas City, Kan. 66101. Family and friends will share in recognizing individual student achievements as each nursing graduate walks across the stage. There is no limit to the number of guests, and tickets are not required.
Undergraduate and graduate students who graduated in August or December 2014 and those scheduled for May or August 2015 graduation are invited to participate in the Recognition Ceremony.
Seating chart: Here is the seating chart for the Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, May 16. If your name is not on the chart and you plan to participate, please contact Sandi Sanchez immediately, 913.588.4381.
Registration: Students must register by April 30 in time to be confirmed and included in the printed Recognition Ceremony program. Registrations will be accepted through May 13 but only those who register before April 30 will have their names in the program.
Accommodations: If you require accommodations, such as wheelchair accessible seating or a sign language interpreter, please include this information where indicated in your registration form. For added assurance, you may also contact Sandi Sanchez at email@example.com or 913.588.4381 no later than May 2.

Regalia: Regalia are worn at all three School of Nursing ceremonies and events (Recognition Ceremony, Hooding Ceremony and University Commencement). School of Nursing regalia are available at the KU Medical Center Bookstore. See what's required and order online or by phone 913.588.2494. To guarantee availability and timely delivery, please contact the bookstore no later than April 15.

Ceremony Instructions: There is no dress rehearsal for the ceremony, so these instructions serve as your directions and contain details you may wish to share with family and friends.
Directions, Parking, and Accommodations
From the KU Medical Center area OR from I-35: Take the 7th Street exit and go north. Rainbow Blvd. becomes 7th Street at the corner of 7th Street & Southwest Blvd. Continue to proceed north on 7th Street to downtown Kansas City, KS. You will go through an intersection at 7th and Central Avenue with a stop light. Drive about 1/2 mile past Central. Memorial Hall is on the left and it faces 7th Street, between Tauromee and Barnett streets. Map.
From I-70: If you are traveling east or west on I-70, take the 7th Street (North) exit from I-70. (7th Street South will take you away from Memorial Hall and you will be headed back to the KU Medical Center campus so please only turn North). Map.
Parking is free on weekends in most of the downtown area. On-street parking is available in the area of Memorial Hall. Suggestions for parking include Lot #1, at the entrance between 7th and 8th streets; the upper level of E South, east of Memorial Hall ; Lot C, a multi-level garagae accessble from Armstrong between 7th and 8th streets. Handicapped accessible parking is not available at Memorial Hall. Handicapped and wheelchair drop-off access is provided in the driveway just south of Memorial Hall. The hall is wheelchair accessible, but wheelchairs are not provided.
University of Kansas Doctoral Hooding in Lawrence-Saturday, May 16, 3:30-5 p.m.
The 2015 University Of Kansas Doctoral Hooding Ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, in the Lied Center on the Lawrence Campus, approximately 45 minutes west of KU Medical Center. Ph.D. and DNP students, who graduated in August or December 2014 and those graduating in May 2015 are invited to participate. Registration is required.
Note: While the School of Nursing invites Summer 2015 graduates to the Spring 2015 Recognition Ceremony, the Lawrence campus invites Summer 2015 graduates to participate in its Spring 2016 events.
University of Kansas Commencement in Lawrence-Sunday, May 17, 10:30 a.m.
The 143rd Commencement of the University of Kansas procession begins at 10:30 a.m. Registration is not required. Friends and family do not need tickets. Ph.D. and DNP students who graduated in August or December 2014 and those graduating in May 2015 are invited to participate.
Prior to "walking down the hill," students assemble with their School along Memorial Drive. The School of Nursing will be located toward the east side of Spencer Library. School of Nursing marshals and the School's banner will arrive early so graduates should have no problem finding the group. The printed commencement program will include the names of August and December 2014 graduates and the names of May 2015 graduates who submitted an Application for Degree (AFD) in Enroll and Pay by the March 1 deadline.
